Monmousseau

The cellars of Monmousseau, an important site in terms of expertise and history, were built over a number of years out of tufa, following the extraction of stones for the construction of castles in the Loire Valley.

This is an authentic site, with 15 km of galleries on three different levels. It is open to visitors all year round and includes a circuit presenting the flavors of the Loire Valley’s terroirs.

The ideal and constant temperature of 12°C of this former quarry makes it the perfect place to produce MONMOUSSEAU wines according to traditional methods.

Opening hours

The cellars are open all year round

November to March :
Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 12 am and from 2.30pm to 5.30pm

April to June and September to October :
Everyday from 10am to 12.30am and from 1.30pm to 6pm.

July and August :
Everyday from 10am to 6.30pm.

The entrance fees for the visits are 3.50€ per person, guided tours at predefined hours.
And 2.90€ per person for the groups, the minimum 20 people, under reservation.

Guided tour

During a guided tour of the winding 700-meter circuit, you will discover the different stages in the elaboration of wines according to the “méthode traditionnelle”.
